Author Business Intensive
Strategic assessment and prioritization for the moving parts of your author business.
Service Description
A 90-minute advisory intensive for independent authors who need to evaluate multiple interconnected parts of their author business. Before your session, you'll complete a detailed intake and may submit up to six relevant materials for review. Swann and Cipher will assess the current structure surrounding your work, identify gaps and competing priorities, and help determine what should happen now, next, and later. During the session, we'll examine the areas most relevant to your goals, which may include author platform and infrastructure, publishing workflow and readiness, trade and bookseller readiness, media and professional materials, direct sales and distribution, launch planning, events and appearances, vendor organization, and business operations. Following the session, you'll receive an Swann and Cipher Author Business Roadmap outlining your current-state assessment, identified gaps, immediate priorities, near-term priorities, later-stage considerations, recommended infrastructure or resources, and items to defer. Best for: authors whose challenges span several connected areas and need to be evaluated together. If you have one clearly defined challenge or decision, the 60-minute Strategy Session may be the better fit.
Cancellation Policy
Full payment is required to reserve an advisory session. Clients may reschedule one time without penalty when notice is provided at least 48 hours before the scheduled session. Cancellations or rescheduling requests received less than 48 hours before the appointment, as well as missed appointments, are nonrefundable. Clients who arrive late may participate for the remainder of their scheduled appointment; however, sessions will end at the originally scheduled time. A completed pre-session intake and all materials submitted for review must be received at least three business days before the scheduled appointment. Materials received after the deadline may not be reviewed and may require the appointment to be rescheduled. Strategy Session clients may submit up to three relevant materials for pre-session review. Author Business Intensive clients may submit up to six relevant materials. Additional materials are not included unless agreed to separately in writing. If Swann and Cipher must cancel or reschedule an appointment, the client may choose a new available appointment or receive a full refund. Advisory services provide strategic assessment, recommendations and planning support. They do not include implementation or ongoing consulting after the engagement unless separately contracted. The Strategy Session includes a written Swann and Cipher Strategy Summary delivered within three business days following the session. The Author Business Intensive includes an Swann and Cipher Author Business Roadmap delivered within five business days. Booking an advisory service constitutes acknowledgment of the applicable service description, booking policy and Swann and Cipher Advisory & Consulting terms.
